Umaro #2

By: Ainsley

Pattern: Umaro

Yarn: Lion’s Price Woolspun in Cocoa (bulky) – 12 balls

Needles:  US 11 (8 mm) circulars

Notes:  CO 151 st. Did 11 repeats across, ? repeats tall.  Steam blocked when complete.

I gave my first Umaro away as a gift, and wanted one for me!  I made it a little wider this time.  It would need to be wider still to actually serve as a queen-size blanket (it isn’t actually overlapping the sides of the bed at all in these photos!)  So pretty — I don’t think I’m going to find another blanket pattern that is this fun to make!

Pattern:  Skiff

Yarn:  Patons Canadiana in Burgundy

Modifications:  3.5mm rim, 5.0mm body. CO 100 st instead of 120 — only did five repeats of chart.

Notes:  Still turned out a little large — could have used smaller needles!

Hot Mess Headband

Pattern:  Hot Mess Headband

Yarn:  Caron Simply Soft in Dark Sage

Modifications:  Knit entire project on 6.0 mm needles

Notes:  The pattern doesn’t quite make sense.  It says to cast on 22 stitches but then the first row implies that there should be an odd number of stitches.  I went with the 22, ending on a purl stitch.  I don’t love how the edges look, so if I made it again I would probably do something different on the first and last stitches (slip first st each row?).  Also, it would nice to do a seamless join next time.

Pattern:  Jane

Yarn: Berroco Vintage in color 5108

Modifications:  Knit entire hat on 4.5mm circular needles.

Notes:  Used 11 pattern reps.  This yarn is wonderful to work with!

Bellezza

Pattern:  Bellezza

Yarn: Loops & Threads Soft & Shiny in Cream

Modifications:  Knit entire hat on 3.5 mm circular needs

Notes:  I didn’t love this yarn.  It was prone to splitting, and I’d like it to be a little thicker.  It doesn’t block particularly well.
